What the fuck should I be reading?

So, since summer is finally here and I have some time, I think that I should finally start to crack down on my hideously long list of books that I own and haven't read. So, take a gander and tell me what you think I should read.

Yeah, I'm definitely looking at that. I read the first book and was half way through the second before I stopped. So, I'd just re-read the second one from the start and go along if I start to read it again.

Read Siddhartha or the Stranger first off because they're incredibly short and can be easily read in one sitting.  Fantastic books as well.  Things like Tolstoy and Melville and Pynchon require more willpower and attention to finish properly, so I'd save those.

If you happen to be an angsty teen, Catcher in the Rye.  If you're not an angsty teen, read it anyway.  

LOTR and the Simarillion are long, detailed, and in my personal opinion, slow.  However the Hobbit is less so and a much easier read.

Basically I think it would be wise to start with the short and sweet ones and work your way up to the massive tomes.

I'm eyeing The Crying of Lot 49 and At the Mountains of Madness because they're both quite short. They look about the same size as Siddhartha and The Stranger.

Crying Lot is a breeze compared to Gravity's Rainbow, and I don't remember much about At the Mountains of Madness because the last time I read Lovecraft was when I read like his entire bibliography in middle school.

And if you do decide to read ASoIaF, it'll take up most of your time for reading, just FYI.

Yeah, I'm aware. It took about a week for me to read the first one in high school. But, it does have more relevance as far as my friends are concerned.

I've always wanted to read Pynchon since I found him via Salinger. I want to read Mountains simply to see how Lovecraft describes the indescribable.

Actually a lot of these are on my to-read list.

Only one I've read is The Book Thief which I found really interesting due to the narrator being Death.

Personally, right now I'm reading American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis (which is proving very hard to get through) and Gone Girl.

Also trying to get into authors like Bukowski and Palahniuk.

I vote Green Eggs and Ham.

It's easy to read, written by one of America's greatest authors, and provides a really deep and philosophical analysis into the human psyche.

I prefer There's a Wocket in My Pocket because I'm a simpleton that likes silly rhymes.

I've never read any Dr. Seuss. I need to get American Psycho.

You've... never read... Seuss? Forget the list, that's the real travesty here.

No, I was the kinda child that watched television all day.

Fountain I will track you down and force you to read Seuss, if only in defense of my childhood.

I'm not joking, my copy of the Lorax has a place of honor on my shelf.

I read an adaptation of the Volsunga Saga when I was a kid. It was called Blood Feud, I think. I've lost that book and have been looking for it ever since. It might not have even been a good book, but, by God, I enjoyed it.

I might have read like one Seuss story, but I can't recall it.

Was it the sneetches one where they basically tell you racism is bad?

Seuss is surprisingly political.  But anyway, decided on what to read yet Fountain?

Megantron, PLEASE tell me how those books are, I am incredibly interested. American Psycho is #1 on my wish list.

I think I'll go ahead and try to get through the Game of Thrones series. If I read anything else before that, it'll probably be At the Mountains.
