b-But... ugh. Fine!
I swing upward in an attempt to slice Karri's ear off. I... dismember her.
"GAH! FUCK!"
She grabs at where her ear was. I... didn't realize how much that would bleed. Oh gods.
w-Why did you make me do this?
"Ngh... You... you BITCH!!" She says with a bit of a snarl.
Before I can even react, she quickly turns around and jump kicks me into a tree. As expected, I fall on my ass and drop my sword.
She seems... a bit angry.
She jumps backward and picks up the scimitar that was in front of the horse, also as expected.
I think I might have screwed up again! Somethi... huh?

AH! h-huh?! I seem to have blacked out... And something is rooting around in my head!
It's another voice, not like you guys. It's not saying anything, more like showing me things. Memories of battles past, sorceries mastered, backstabbings and betrayals... I think it's trying to help, but it's too much at once. I can only focus on so many of them. I'm not sure which I should.
I can make out 3 specific people through all the fuzz:
A Matossan Archmagi, a Naeriskan Warrior, and a Nadim Assassin.
Maybe they can help me get Kaz back.
Oh... I should hurry! I can't tell what Karri is up to like this!
[CLASS SELECTION]
[Whose memories does Licia focus on? This is permanent, the other two spirits will be used as fuel for the amulet.]

A figure appears before me.
I've never seen a Matossa before, but I've heard them described as looking like dragons. They are tall, horned ...things from the north.
He fits the description well, but his face appears... blank. Featureless.
The figure holds out its hand towards me. I think he wants me to take it.
Mr. Fountain wrote:>I say go with magi.
>This way, you can perhaps learn to free us from this arcane prison one day.
I grab hold of the Matossa's hand and he yanks me to my feet. The rest of the world just flashes back into view.
Thoughts start pouring in. It's still a jumbled mess, but I can make out a little.
That ...was weird.
And somehow I don't think it works like that, man.
Nexeria wrote:>Holy fuck, you actually cut her ear off! You'za crazy bitch!
Y-you told me to!! At least... anyone who said anything did.
And I'm not crazy! You're crazy!
I don't hear those voices anymore. I think I could only choose one of them.Megantron wrote:> I say assassin. You seem good at being sneaky so far. Get a surprise attack on enemies!
'sides, I don't know about the sneaky thing. That HAD to have been luck.
Karri is still pulling the sword out of the ground. Whatever that was didn't last long. Good.
"Karri! The hell's you screamin' for? You better... eh? Who's that? You making friends?" I hear another woman's voice.
"This lil' shit snuck up behind me and cut my ear off! She's after the merchant we captured. Dunno 'bout you, but I'm about to fuck'r up."
I don't turn around to see who's talking. I do not need to. Jessa walks into view, looking at Karri. She then looks at me.
"You've injured my pet, lop. I think it's off to the slave markets for you." Jessa threatens.
"No way, not good 'nough. Bitch got my ear, so I'm gonna have both of hers. And'r head too!"
Karri glares at me, then at Jessa. "And I ain't yer damn pet, woman."
She just shrugs. "Oh well, then. I guess we have enough money now anyway."
Karri gets her blade out of the ground and Jessa draws two daggers. They ...strike some dumb pose.
"You've earned the ire of the Siren Trio!!" They both say at the same time.
What. Um, wow.
"...Are you serious? You aren't even a trio. There's only two of you."
"Just shut it! Ahmez is busy!" Karri blurts.
They give each other a glance and then start towards me.
I quickly retrieve Dad's sword from behind me.
I go into a standard Shuin-To stance... and... Wait. A what? Uh.
Whatever! I just get ready to fight. I somehow think I can handle this, but I still might need a bit of guidance here.
Jessa keeps walking, but Karri begins running toward me.

A memory immediately pops into my head of me doin... No. Not me. A memory of someone else doing exactly what you described.Mr. Fountain wrote:>Slash horizontally with the sword towards them and try to use its magic to make an arcane slashy thing shoot in that direction!
It's the same person as the figure from earlier. Interesting.
I try my best to imitate...
My new memories show me how as I focus energy into the sword's crystal. The blade starts to glow as well. W-why is this so easy??
Nexeria wrote:Man, I'm really adverse to this whole killing thing, so my advice would be to MAIM THEM! MAIM THE FUCK OUT OF THEM!

So am I!
I hope this doesn't hurt them too much. I draw back my sword.
Buuuuut... I don't really need any answers either because I'm pretty sure Kaz is on the other path now. I just need these two out of the way!
Jessa stops in her tracks with a look of terror. Karri looks confused, but she's still coming.
I swing, and some sort of blue wave rushes out of my blade.
I also sort of... scream something involuntarily.
Megantron wrote:>Aim for the hands to knock the weapons to the floor!!!
Uh. Well, I didn't aim for any particular part of them...
But whatever I did, Karri was knocked flat on her back and Jessa against a tree. They're both disarmed!
Jessa comes back to her senses quickly. She appears to be absolutely horrified. Karri looks like she's out cold.
Good, that... whatever that was didn't cut'm to bits.
Should I do something else or say something or... something?
Licia has remembered a skill: Magic Missile.

I guess you're right. I don't want her coming after me when I confront Ahmez. However, judging from her expression, I don't think she really wants to.
I move closer, trying to force a scary face. It's pretty hard, because I feel like laughing!
"s-Sorcerer! Please don't turn me inta somethin'! Don't take my eyes! I'm sorry about the slave market thing! Plea-"
The hell's she goin' on about? I've never been feared this much before. It ain't helping with the laughter!
I end her raving with a swift punch to the side of the head. It makes a nice "thwack" and she's out like a torch in the rain.
This went surprisingly well. You guys are much more useful than I thought you'd be.
Mr. Fountain wrote:>Take their weapons and get rid of them so that they can't pick them back up when they wake

Alright. I collect Jessa's daggers and Karri's scimitar. I throw one dagger and the scimitar out into a particularly thick section of the woods. I keep the other dagger. Who knows? A small knife might come in handy, right? I slip it into one of the tool loops on the backpack.
ACQUIRED: Steel Dagger.
Wait, you want me to... what?
Oh my. Uh. Actually, I suppose that would make an alright punishment for all this.
I drag Jessa off of the tree and lay her flat, then pick up Karri and lay her on Jessa. I arrange their arms to where it looks like they were hugging or something.
Aaaand done! I step back and admire my work.
Nothing short of a masterpiece. I'm stifling a whole lot of laughter here.
So, I guess I'm done here. Suppose I'll go the other way and say hello to this Ahmez guy and end this.

Alright. I leave these two to their fun and head off in the other direction.
Pretty unfortunate that I won't get to see what they do when they wake up.

I come back to the intersecting path.
Oh. Wow. Hmm... Something interesting about me. Well, I've got this neat, huge scar across my whole body that I don't know what came from... Oh! And they never told me how, but Kaz's parents somehow knew the names of my real parents! I'd have to ask Kaz again though, I don't remember them. I think their surnames started with a V? Other than that, I cant seem to think of anything extraordinary.
Favorite games? What do you mean by games? Like drinking games? Word games? Not my thing, really. My fun came from reading, and I read quite a bit. Working at a book store had its perks. However, I'd also play this weird board game with Kaz that he found at the foreign market with a bunch of pieces that move differently and the goal was to take the other player's pieces.
When I think of "hidden relatives", all that comes to mind are my parents. I don't know if I have anyone else. And... lost loves? Are you serious? No, I haven't really thought of someone like that before... and don't you even mention Kanden! That was jus- ...I suddenly lose my footing and fall on my knees.
I feel very light-headed. I... am suddenly exhausted and I don't know wh... wait. No. I know exactly why. That thing I did with the sword! Magic Missile I think it's called? It drained me pretty bad. I probably didn't have the physical strength to actually do that. I try to stand, but I can't. Feels like the backpack just became ten times heavier. But I have to press on!

I should be fine on water, though!
I drank from a little river that flows between here and Emanya before I arrived at the temple. And I know what water I should and shouldn't drink!
This could be bad...
I drop the Backpack. It was starting to hurt.
Even without all that weight it's still a bit of a pain, but I manage to drag myself to my feet soon afterward.
I move over to a nearby tree and lean on it. I can hear a man's deep voice speaking softly.

Hey! Stop calling me a bunny! We aren't like rabbits at all!
...ugh.
Anyway, I prop myself up on this tree and try my best to make out what the man is saying. I'll assume it's Ahmez.
"-ells, I've killed more than a few of'm myself. And don't ye worry. Once Jessa gets back with her little friend, I'll show ye we could do much worse than they could to me. He he he..." He says.
I hear a second, muffled voice. Can't make it out though.
I bet it's Kaz... dammit.
w-What should I do?
I shudder to think what would happen if I tried more magic. I'm sorta out of options here.

I get on my hands and knees and try to crawl up quietly...
And am somehow able to! I come up to another small clearing. There's... several people here actually. At least four.
Looks like we weren't their only victims, they're all tied up except for a man in a red cloak. He's jabbing someone in the chest and making more threats. The person he's jabbing isn't Kaz, he's too short and tan.
The man in the cloak is obviously Ahmez. He's... holding a spellblade too, one in the shape of a Tsolanian rapier. This just got way more complicated. Lovely.
Mr. Fountain wrote:>See if you can remember an ability that allows you to suck energy out of the surrounding area to rejuvenate yourself.
Uh. Hmm.
I... can't seem to find anything like that. These memories are still a huge, incoherent mess. How I was able to remember that missile thing is a huge mystery to me.
I look around the area for something to throw, I guess. When I find... Good gods! What is that smell!? I suddenly catch a VERY strong whiff of... blood? It smells like blood and freshly dug dirt.
w-What?
