Mass Shootings and Gun Control
In light of the recent shootings in Orlando (my own home state) from this past weekend, I wanted to open a topic of discussion on your thoughts about the shootings and what it means for the future of the U.S. and gun control.
What are you views/beliefs on gun control/rights?
I did not want to bring this topic up on the Skype chat in fear of any kind of jokes or insensitivity being made about the subject and thought it best to open it here under Heavy Discussion.

I believe that heavy weapons like assault weapons should be banned outright as well as large magazines for all other guns and any kind of modification that's made to increase a gun's effectiveness against humans. However, things like single-shot hunting rifles, shotguns, and most handguns should be allowed.

I'm fairly libertarian with pretty much everything, so I don't really see any need to further gun control outside of perhaps universal background checks. One problem is that 'assault weapons' is a term without any real stable legal or technical definition. That makes banning them tricky, because who can say what constitutes an assault weapon, and what doesn't? It varies depending on who you're talking to. Furthermore, guns are fun as hell.
