Dungeon: Tale of the Seekers "Alpha" Empty Dungeon: Tale of the Seekers "Alpha"

6 souls gather at the entrance of a grand construction: a massive cathedral, built to honor long forgotten gods by a long dead culture. These souls, while having never met prior, nor exchanging any words, know why they are all there. They are seekers, drawn here by an unseen hand. Reverently one of them opens the entrance, and walks inside.

Your party emerges to a spacious chamber, 6 pillars lining the center walkway which leads to a small altar. 4 statues line the altar, 2 on either side. You notice 2 separate doors, East and West ends. The entire room is made from a beautiful white marble, seemingly new. No blemishes can be seen on any surface. There is no hostile presence immediately apparent. The door behind you remains open, allowing in brilliant rays of sunlight.

Tet-batar Amennakhti
The Eldritch

The hooded foreigner, taking no chances in the seemingly benign room, drew his rusty khopesh and walked forward. He made his way to the altar where the two statues sat and looked between each one and the door nearest to them, muttering to himself, "Which way... which way..."

Sir Harkanus Marco Delruze Quincy III
The Arbiter

The knight, Harkan, gazed upon the glistening white marble, the dungeon entrance being far more beautiful than he had expected it to be. Almost as if the Goddess Enchrion had crafted the stone herself, the room seemed eerily spotless. Surely the travelers before them had to have passed through the room before meeting their fates beyond, but it almost seemed as if this was the first time this sanctum had experienced life in centuries.

Seeing no point in questioning the Goddess, Harkan shuffled up behind the mage and said, "No matter the path, our fate shall remain the same in the end. Tis' the will of the Goddess."

Mauno Järvinen
The Ashen

The soot-covered pyromancer simply ambles on toward the center of the room, arms crossed as if he were cold. Mauno eyes the other seekers, then the altar. He then begins walking off to the Northern end of the chamber, taking in the sights. Room seems safe enough in his mind. He's got no idea what that nutty wizard's on about.

No insolent guards to burn, however.
How disappointing.

Josephine Foy
 The Thrall

The young woman gazed, as she inched closer. Her boots echoed softly along with some other multiple footsteps. She looked around, uncomfortably. She had no idea there would possibly be others seeking in this realm. Maybe she should speak to them..? She lowered her eyebrows at her own thoughts. Now was not the time to act civilized. They're here for their own purposes and are most likely not looking to chat. She curiously grazed her index finger across a pillar, half expecting dust.
She halted at the last row of pillars. 'Which door..?' She thought to herself,  biting her lower lip.  'Why must there be decisions already..' She sighed to herself. 'Should I maybe follow them? ' She shrugged cluelessly and headed towards the right.

Sion, No. 4
The Automaton

Unlike it's companions, Sion did not pay any mind to its surroundings, the dim lights that were it's eyes not flickering to observe the room whatsoever. One of the humans it accompanied had made her way towards the right door. A decision that No. 4 staunchly disagreed with.

The mechanical sapient stepped heavily behind the woman, its wide metal hand laying lightly on her shoulder. When she looked to its ghastly visage of a face, it simply shook its head solemnly, before indicating towards the opposite and leftward door.

With it's opinion known, No. 4 waited by the left door, its heavy arms folded across each other in a silent refusal to change its stance and denial of any discussion or discourse of the fact.

Elena ???
The Ecclesiast

The short haired girl, sporting bandages over her eye, took in the sight of the entrance for quite a while before opening it. Although, when she actually opened the door, she didn't bother looking around the room. She had only time to admire the door, then proceeded to the right without any hesitation.

Even she wasn't sure why she took so long.

Walking closer to the altar, you observe a series of strange symbols on the bases. Eldritch recognizes this as an ancient form of the Ammeti script, although its exact meaning is debatable. The text on the altar is translated as such: Pay tribute to proceed
The altar depicts a bull skull in the center, surrounded by two open hands. The hands appear to be perfect pedestals, if only you knew what to put in them...
turning to the 4 statues, you notice that each depicts a unique figure. Before even translating the bases, it is obvious to nearly all in the room who these statues depict, only Automaton is clueless to their nature.
The left most statue depicts a robed figure holding a scythe, its base reads Tender of the Void.
The next statue depicts a female in a gown. She is holding a spear, and you can make out leaves carved into the statue. The base reads Mother of Nature
The next statue depicts a female in battle armor, wielding a sword and shield. The base reads Patron of Mankind
The final statue depicts a kingly figure, holding no weapons. He is gowned in what appears to be silken robes. The base reads The Divine Mortal

The West door.
Dungeon: Tale of the Seekers "Alpha" GIYlHju

The East door.

Both doors look identical, save for the symbols above them. The Western door reads: Fate
The Eastern door reads Will
The doors are decorated with intricate designs and filigree, all made of the same perfect marble. The doors appear easy enough to push open.

Tet-batar Amennakhti
The Eldritch

Tet turned towards the Arbiter, his face masked in the shadow of his hood, and looked up at the large armored man - his eyes, two shining bits of silver floating in the blackness, seemed to squint. He could only think less of the man for believing in such paltry gods. Divines like Enchrion would be of little help against the Unseen when they made their way into this realm. Turning his attention back towards the altar, he muttered loudly enough to everyone, "Do not proceed. We should give thought to this decision..." The Eldritch decided to himself that these people might be of use, he could not allow them to split up.

After looking over the altar for a few minutes and taking in all he could, he decided to present his findings so that everyone would be on the same page as he. He walked over to the statue on the left and began a bit of a windy monologue.

"This, first created, is known as Xanadu to the Etziim people, though..." the robed man turned around and gestured at the others, "in your Westerly tongues, it sounds more like Chrushnya. And the plaque below reads... hm... Tender of the... Void? Yes, Tender of the Void..." He then shuffled and gestured to each statue as he went on. "And then, we have, Ozira. Again, in your tongues, Katariin. The script below... Mmm... Mother of Earth... No, Mother of Nature? And further on the right, we have Septutsut, or Enchrion." Tet stopped for a moment and, with his hand, seemed to point at the armored, holy knight in the group before turning back to his monologue. "Below her, the words, Patron of Mankind. And lastly..." The foreigner stared at the statue of the man in silken robes for a moment before shrugging. "We do not have a name for him. He is called the hazaziin in our tongue. In yours, Eldon. The carving says The Divine Mortal. The center piece appears to be Kharos or Tauros. The writing below that, Pay tribute to proceed."

Tet then walked over to the Automaton and stood next to him in the same manner that it was standing. "In the order from left to right the deities are arranged, it is the same order in which they were created. And since Xanadu and Ozira were the first created of the group and are therefore nearer to the west, the soulless here is right, we should go first through the western door."

Sion, No. 4
The Automaton

Sion stared down at the robed Eldritch, trying to wrap its primordial mind around the warped logic the robed man had used to justify his decision to choose the leftward door. It was so... flawed. So circular. The reason itself existed without reason.

The Automaton was silent for a time. When it had realized that it did not approve of the robed man's logic, it in turn discovered that its own reasoning was non existent. It merely chose the door because it felt like it was right. Some unknown force compelling it to.

Automaton Number 4 did not know the word for Fate, or Instinct, and if it had it would have realized that these may have been factors in its initial choice.

The steel sapient pried his vision away from the robed one, and walked away from the door to the statue on the far right.

Divine Mortal. Had it heard right? What logic could that be? The Divine were...

Here the machine struggle with its thoughts, it couldn't quite comprehend the concept of multiple planes of existence, or an afterlife, or divinity, and it had never heard of a God. But in its illiterate mind, it had decided Divine was the opposite of a human. Not to say better or worse, but transcendent, different, from the place that was not here, the earth that was not earth.

How could a human be a thing that a human could not be? This... "divine". If that was possible, a human being divine, surely then other such impossibilities could be possible.

Like something not human having humanity.

Sion felt a sinking feeling in its mid section. The weight of an unknown force on its shoulders. Sion did not know what sadness or melancholy was, but it could feel it.
